Local Abundance Festival 2006

...and now Festival 2007!

On October 21, the coastal community gathered at the Caspar Community Center to culminate C’mon Home to Eat month with an Abundance Festival celebration. C'mon Home to Eat is a project sponsored by localization groups throughout Mendocino County, focusing on eating what is processed and produced within our local food shed (defined as 100 miles from where you live) during the month of October. It invites each of us to ask where does our food come from and what is and isn't produced locally? CELL has sponsored various events to celebrate and educate about what is here already and what we need to be developing in terms of local infrastructure to help sustain our communities.

The focus of the festival was to celebrate locally grown food and to bring the community together to learn, play and eat. The afternoon offered numerous activities for all ages, including workshops, live music and comedy.
