FUTURE COMMITMENT

The Noyo Food Forest aspires to be a permanent fixture in Fort Bragg .  We envision a series of gardens that will provide a more substantial quantity of fresh produce for our town.  There is a growing movement of community food security programs throughout the country and the county and we plan to harness this energy now for the safety and well being of the future generations.  More local food production means local sustainable economic development and food security.  As we make local organic food more accessible and affordable for local people, demand will grow for our services and we will be able to increase production.  As mentioned before, the sales of produce and vegetable starts at the produce stand and the Farmers’ Market and bed rentals will provide the funds necessary to continue our mission.

We will work together with the City of Fort Bragg and local community groups to ensure the longevity of the program.  We are starting a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation. We will research appropriate foundations and individual donors to support the mission, which is to provide a safe place for community members of all ages to come together on common ground to grow healthy food.

HOW WILL WE KNOW WE’VE SUCCEEDED?

We will know we have been successful when we will have inspired others to continue eating and producing fresh local food.  We will be receiving enough revenue to keep the garden running in perpetuity.  Volunteer numbers will be sufficient to keep the project going.  We will have a diverse group of volunteers, representing all ages, cultures, abilities, and personalities.  We will meet the milestones in the timeline.  We will have created a positive space for community interaction.  We will have supported local teens and encouraged their participation in community.  We will have made Fort Bragg a better place to live and thrive.
